The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) administers a number of Doctoral and Master level non-binding scholarships awarded by the Royal Thai Government (RTG) to qualified candidates with excellent academic qualifications from Thailand and other Asian countries. Scholarships provide opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds from all countries in Asia to study and conduct research together in a truly international environment at AIT and to build a sound foundation for International understanding among Asians.

His Majesty the King Scholarship for Doctoral Program

This scholarship is awarded to qualified candidates with excellent undergraduate (Bachelor's degree) and postgraduate (Master's degree) achievements to pursue their Doctoral program in any Academic Program offered at the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and School of Environment, Resources. , and Development (SERD) of the following priority countries supported by the Government of Thailand.

1) Bhutan and Timor-Leste
2) ASEAN countries
3) other Asian countries

Eligibility and required documents

• Have an outstanding educational record in the 4-year Bachelor's Program and 2-year Master's Program from an accredited institution in the related field;
• S1 and S2 GPA greater than or equal to 3.5
• Two letters of recommendation;
• Research proposal;
• Have an English proficiency score as required by the AIT Language Center (IELTS 6.0 (Overall and Group Writing) or AIT EET 6.0).

Scholarship Coverage

Each scholarship award covers tuition fees, application fees, accommodation, and a scholarship for living expenses on the campus where AIT resides, for the entire duration period of 41 months (7 semesters) for the PhD program.

His Majesty the King Scholarship for Masters Program

This scholarship is awarded to a qualified candidate with excellent undergraduate achievement from any Asian country to pursue a Master's degree in one of the academic programs offered at the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and School of Management (SOM).

Her Majesty the Queen Scholarship for Masters Program

This scholarship is awarded to a qualified candidate with excellent undergraduate achievement from any Asian country to pursue a Master's degree in an environmental-related academic program offered at the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD).

Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS Scholarship) for Masters Program

The Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarship was awarded by the Royal Thai Government in honour of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The aim is to assist human resource development in 6 GMS countries, namely Cambodia, Southern China: Yunnan and Guangxi provinces, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand in each academic program related to the following four thematic areas:

• Infrastructure development
• Energy Technology
• Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Development, and
• Environmental Engineering and Management.

This scholarship provides an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds from all countries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region to study and conduct research together in a truly international environment at AIT and to build a sound foundation for international understanding among Asians.

Appropriateness

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Have an outstanding educational record in a 4-year undergraduate program from an accredited institution in the related field;
• GPA for Bachelor degree more or equivalent 3.5
• Have an English proficiency score as determined by the AIT Language Center (IELTS 6.0 (Overall and Group Writing) or AIT EET 6.0).

Scholarship Coverage

Each scholarship award covers tuition fees, accommodation, and a scholarship for living expenses on the campus where AIT resides, for the entire period of the 22-month master's program.

The application deadline for the August 2022 semester is February 28, 2022.
